Do I have an Ear Infection?

My ear feels like I have a toothpick shoved through the hole thing. when i tug on it it throbs, when (its on the left side) i lean my head to the right it feels the same when i lean it to the left it feels better, but when i went to bed yesterday and laid it on my pillow it hurt worse, thiis only happened twice, but when i was eating, it like felt like a stab in my ear, please help me, do i have an ear infection? Swim ear? (ps i play water polo 2 hours a day, sometimes i forget to clean out my ears) ear ache? Ive only had it for two days,
What can i do to get rid of the pain? What can i do to get rid of the thing in my ear? Don't just say Go to the doctor! I want to frikkin get rid of it at my house, im terrified of the doctor. Help me! Ill answer any questions you have here, jkjknvm@yahoo.com

Your description of pain in your ear could be an infection, but with common infections, there is change in temperature. You did not mention that you checked your temperature. Usually with infections, there is swelling that produces pressure that you will notice when lying down and moving your head. Swimmers' ear is a possibility, but two hours playing water polo would probably rinse the earwax from your ear.

If you can, check your temperature, and if you notice you have one or two degrees of temperature, try an experiment and take two aspirin. Aspirin is great to lower temperature. The temperature may be caused by an infection somewhere within your ear canal. Ask a pharmacist what is recommended when a person has an ear ache. If you can eliminate the possibilities of an ear ache after talking with a pharmacist, you can reduces the causes that have presented themselves and narrow the causes. When all else fails, you will have to visit a doctor.
