Why do I wake up occasionally sweating like crazy?
Im a very healthy 28 year old male. Other than being tested for diabetes repeatedly, and being told I am borderline. My father also past away from diabetes. I have been under a little more stress lately but its got to be more to it than that. Its cold in austin now and I have been sleeping with my window open and the fan on an using a lite blanket and I still wake up about once or twice a week and a horrible sweat. Could I just be sleeping so soundly that once I cover up I dont move, causing me to get hot and sweat? Are there any special sheets I could buy to help this problem. Oh yeah and im not usually a very sweaty person. I can work outside all day and never sweat like I do when i sleep. Could it have anything to do with the diabetes in my family? Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated
answer:
It kind og sounds like you have so-called "night terrors." Although its almost just kids that have those. But I have had them myself after entering adulthood. A night terror means that you are in a deep state of sleep, but not dreaming. Then a malfunction occurs and you awake from this deep state very sudden and people describe feelings like fear, heart raceing, sweting, and even screaming out when wakeing up. But these are harmless, and if you have these or not, most likely its just stress:)
But if it is really bothering you, you could always see your doctor.

Good luck!

Are you on any type of pain meds? If you are they will do this to you. I doubt it has anything to do with the diabetes. I do this a lot also but I am oxycodone 120mg day for pain. It might be stress also. A lot of people say or think that's crazy but stress is a very powerful thing that causes a lot of health issues. Also not to be funny but you may have gotten an std. There are some of those that make you sweat like crazy.
I suggest having your thyroid and hormones checked, i also use to wake up sweating and thought it was menopause then after doctor ran blood tests found out it was my thyroid and hormones. Just a suggestion ,,,
