Can i have the Depo injection as back up for shifted mirena?

Can i have the Depo injection as back up for shifted mirena?
I am tryng to find another form of contraceptive to use as my mirena has shifted and i have no clue whether its working or not.
i do not want to risk another pregnancy and have been put on the waiting list at the hospital for removal. i was wondering if i could either start taking the pill or have the depo injection as a back up while mirena is still in. or will this just overdose me?

answer:
yes you can, if health is stable enough, also take the combined pill, I had Mirena fitted this year, and had heavy bleeding and the Dr said shed prescribe me hormones or put me on pill for a few months until it had all settled in, you are perfectly able to use another method whilst this one is lost or has moved , have no fear, I sympathise with you and this is why I had mine removed as I thought why did I bother when the idea of it being lost and needing general anaesthetic etc etc is one scary notion. tc

can
