Graft Gum Sugery??????????????????

Graft Gum Sugery??????????????????
I had sugery on my gums and they took a piece of my gums and transplanted it. Where they transplanted it, it now has gray stuff that looks like mold on the bottom of it. Someone tell me what that is? And how to get rid of it!!!!! Help!
it smells awful too. I tried brushing it and using mouthwash, the freakin smell won't go away.

answer:
Sounds like it might be tissue glue or "glue stitch" After we do a procedure where we need the tissues to stay in the right place and sutures won't work (the tissue area is too shallow) we put tissue glue on. After about 6-8 days it starts to look grey and is a bit rubbery. I'm not to sure about the smell, but the glue should slough off soon. Don't try to pick it off, you don't want to damage the tissue!

Hope I helped, I will check back to see if you have any other ?

How long ago was the procedure done?

The smell is normal. I had this done 2 years ago and the smell goes away. Did the surgeon put "putty" over the graft? If he did then it could just be left over. Or its is the suturewait a little while and if it dosen't go away go back to the dentist.

Prior surgical experience.
It could possibly be left over sutures. Make a appointment to have it looked at. After all you have already been through with surgery , it is wise to get it looked at so no further problem you have to deal with.
