Hand sanitizer ingredients, essential oils reduce contact time required?
Does the presence of anti bacterial essential oils mean that less of the sanitizer is required to get the job done? They say for a standard sanitizer (alcohol based) if your hands are dry before 15 seconds, you did not use enough. They recommend about 3ml per use.

So, I am wondering if the addition of these essential oils means the amount of time can be cut down since it is not only the alcohol which is doing the killing. I have seen one product which is 60% alcohol and 30% various essential oils which claims you only need 1ml per use.

So what difference does the essential oils really make to required exposure time?
best answer:
The phenols in the essential oils probably are what's doing it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenols
